OCC Members and POs Taking Action in Storms' Aftermath

Three hurricanes at once, Irma heading for the US, Katia making landfall in Mexico, and Jose increasing to a Category 4 storm

By Daria Blackwell - 09/09/2017

Millions are being evacuated from Florida and Caribbean islands already battered by Irma. The US, UK, France, and the Netherlands have sent naval forces to provide relief, transport injured residents, and deliver water and supplies. Communications with some of the islands worst hit are still minimal.

OCC POs/PORs on the ground are reporting in with damage assessments, needs, and relief efforts being coordinated from the islands that remain undamaged. But communications remain difficult within the affected regions. We will share the news as it comes in.

OCC members involved with World Cruising Club/ARC and Salty Dawg Rallies are organizing transport of supplies to the Caribbean when the fleets depart from Europe and the US. If you are planning to cross the Atlantic to the Caribbean this year, please contact those organizations to see how you can help.

We are compiling lists of resources and verifying reliability of relief efforts before announcing them to our members. Please come back to the website often.

If you know of activities or resources we have not listed, please contact PR@oceancrusingclub.org.
