EPITAPH FOR A WAYWARD SAILOR

Regrets that Tristan Jones is dead

A sailorman of note

Down in Wales, they tell his tales

And they called him `Jones the Boat'.

But Tristan died in Phuket

Beneath an azure sky

Ask not why he died in Phuket

Where else would Tristan die?

Harry Ingham

Tristan's vastly entertaining Saga of a Wayward Sailor, first published in 1979, has recently been reprinted in paperback by Adlard Coles Nautical at œ9.99. Covering his sailing exploits from 1961 to 1969, many of them in his converted RNLI lifeboat Cresswell, it is of the `curl up in front of the fire and suspend disbelief' ilk. 276 pages, 4 maps, many apposite (and identified) quotations, but unfortunately no photographs. ISBN 0-7136-4277-7.
