Awarded to the member(s) who has/have done most to "foster and encourage oceancruising in small craft and the practice of seamanship and navigation in all branches". This may include any invention, report, idea or action which is calculated to promote the objectives of the Club.

2006  No nomination received in 2006

2005 - Dick Morris (Retiring Port Officer, BVI’s) – For 31 years, Dick has been ‘on duty’ in Tortola but now, sadly, due to failing health has been forced to retire.  We all have good memories of Dick's hospitality and his tremendous help and assistance in 2000 on the millennium cruise. Without his good offices the two main parties at the Last Resort and the Bitter End could never have been achieved so successfully. His close knowledge of the resort industry and his close and friendly contact with the key people stood us in tremendous good stead. His will be a hard act to follow!

2004 - Tony Vasey - for producing the wonderful jubilee edition of: ‘The Ocean Cruising Club - The First Fifty Years'. He has, with great dedication and diligence, researched, collated and written the tome himself with help only in the editing and checking.  This has been a great labour and one the Club will be grateful for in years to come.

2002Betty Lindsay-Thomson - who is now well into her eighties and one of our oldest members who has never owned her own boat but has, until recently, been clocking up an average of 5,000 miles per annum crewing on other people's boats. She has always been a happy, positive and useful crewman, extremely loyal to her skippers, and has kept her fellow watch keepers entertained for many a long night watch with her tales and anecdotes. She is still top of ‘the desired crew list' at Sunsail for skippers who are asked to make delivery trips on their charter yachts. She is a regular attendee at OCC functions be they local social events in a pub in Southampton or distant rallies such as the Commodore's Millennium Cruise in the BVI's, Ireland and Falmouth. She has, over the years, given dedicated service to the Club by acting on the committee for many years, stuffing envelopes with the club secretary when no other help was available and has been a constant supporter of subsequent committees and social event organisers, in short, in all her activities over the years she has been active in promoting the objects of our club.
