Half-Safe' was the WWII Ford GPA amphibious jeep that Australian Ben Carlin and various crewmates sailed and drove around the world in the 1950s. Ben's alma Mater, Guildford Grammar School in Perth, Western Australia is the trustee of 'Half-Safe' and it is exhibited as pride of place at the school, where Ben Carlin's legacy and 'Nothing is impossible' attitude lives on to inspire its students.
This segment is from 'Can We Help?' a quite good program on Australian ABC TV. This segment aired 23rd June 2006. The sound seems to be a bit out of sync but it's quite watchable.
This is a fascinating insight into this remarkable voyage. Sadly it does not mention Ben famously driving to the OCC 1954 inaugural meeting where he proposed that his subscription be waved.
