"Guias Nautica" published locally. These provide excellent up to date
navigational information, with waypoints and aerial photos annotated with
depths, etc. All in Portuguese of course, but still very usable. They also
provide a lot of local info about the locations (which requires a bit more
knowledge of Portuguese). These descriptions can tend to paint a somewhat optimistic picture of some pretty grotty locations (I think the guides are partly funded by the tourist board), but very usefull none the less. |

Yachtsman's Navigator Guide to the Chilean Channels, by Alberto Mantellero. Written by a Chileno, it has some good additional information, and some (very rudimentary) sketch charts, but this is one guide, in our opinion, that you could do without. |
|
| Chart Book |
The Chilean Armada's Atlas Hidrografico, which is a set of all Chilean charts, in reduced format (so you will need a magnifying glass), but this negates the need for having all the full sized charts aboard. In addition, we have noticed that all the Admiralty charts we have for this area are all based on old surveys, and the hazards are difficult to identify from them. |
Cost in 2004 was 50,000 pesos (about $82 US.) |
