We are looking for a wintering / ice free mooring with good yard to
undertake work on 58 foot wooden motor / sail yacht and I am writing
to ask if you have either the information I am looking for or where
we might find some helpful details of suitable yards.
Requirements are : a 60 ton lift ; a yard which understands this
type of hull ; engineering facilities ; electrics, electronics etc ;
and water which doesn't freeze during the winter as we daren't take
the boat out of the water for longer than a week or so.
We are interested in looking at Denmark. Seems to me they have a lot
of this type of craft still around so are more likely to have the
servicing facilities. Also all the Danes I have met so far speak
impeccable english. Copenhagen is a great idea for wintering but I
don't know if the water freezes.
