Summer berth E coast of Sweden close to Stockholm

We are looking for a convenient berth for Shimshal this summer that is fairly close to the Ryan Air airport south of Stockholm. Any tips would be very much appreciated. Length 14.5m and draft 2.3m

There are two good marinas at Oxelosund (Femore and Fiskehamn), under the same management. I left my Rival 34 'Williwaw' unattended at Femore for five weeks in July/Aug '06, with no problems and very fair costs. Both marinas are a bit remote from shops. Taxi to Skavsta is 15 mins and there is a through bus in summer. Nykoping itself is a bit more convenient. I like Trosa, a very pretty small town 30 mins by car, 80 by bus to the north. The harbour is very close to all facilities. I am wintering there now, for the second year.

Hi Simon and Sally,

I am glad of your choice to come to Stockholm archipelago for some cruising next summer.

You ask for temporary storage and I have some suggestions, as I presume you would want to leave the boat in the water (rather than store it on land?) somewhere convenient for the Stockholm/Skavsta airport.

I´d say that many marinas will accept your boat for an extended period for some 4-6 weeks. And there are literally hundreds of small club harbours and marinas along the east coast - more so than on the west coast.

I'd like to suggest a small yard in Trosa which is close to the Skavsta airport that RyanAir is using, and it will probably be cheaper than the more crowded marinas in the Stockholm area. The contact person is Mattias Lilja and he can be contacted on info@balticvarv.se;
http://maps.google.se/maps?f=q&hl=sv&geocode=&q=uddbergagatan+1+trosa&sll=61.606396,21.225586&sspn=1 5.404926,32.871094&ie=UTF8&ll=58.89099,17.554779&spn=0.064923,0.128403&t=h&z=13&iwloc=addr&om=1
The bus to the airport is some 100 meters away from the yard (=varv in Swedish).

An alternative is one of the marinas in central Stockholm " Navishamnen (see pdf in link below) which will charge about 1000 SEK/week - this can probably be negotiated for a longer stay.

Another choice can be Nyköpings harbour which also is close to the airport (only some kms away) or Oxelösund harbour also close by. Both owned by the local councils. More information on these can be found at
http://www.svenskagasthamnar.se/ENGindex.asp (in Swedish).

Weather
May is still early in the season and you can expect some periods of northerly winds rather than the predominately SW's during the summer.
Weather can be cold but often there's a high pressure period at some time during May.

Also, there's some info I'd put on my website for the 2006 summers OCC Baltic Rally; http://www.dromresan.com/english/sailing_in_sthlm_higres.pdf
